Diagnosis & Treatment

How is S.L.E. Diagnosed?

Lupus is diagnosed by Rheumatologist – Dermatologist.
The diagnosis can be confirmed by careful clinical investigation and by blood tests (e.g. anti-nuclear anti-bodies).

How is SLE Treated?

Regular medical care is essential in the treatment of SLE.  Drugs will be prescribed by the Consultant to help control pain and inflammation of the joints and tissue.

It is important to follow medical advice about drugs to be taken.  It is also important to get plenty of rest and to avoid emotional or stressful situations.

Education, rest and understanding of family and friends are vital.
